About this event

Aynur Doğan is the most widely heard voice in contemporary Kurdish music. She builds on traditional folk song and the dengbêj storytelling style, then opens it up with jazz, classical strings and other Western influences. For this concert she performs her album Rabê ("rise up") with her own band and the Noord Nederlands Orkest, in a programme that moves between the very quiet and the danceable, with the orchestra's strings well to the front.
