Erdem Pancarcı: Mythos of Âşık (Rüsselsheim)

Erdem Pancarcı is a multi-instrumentalist and producer whose programme "Mythos of Âşık" draws on the Âşık tradition of Anatolia and Mesopotamia: the poetic song culture carried for centuries by travelling musicians, storytellers and spiritual seekers. He plays tembûr, divan and bağlama alongside duduk, kaval, percussion and bass, setting the old repertoire against jazz, improvisation and contemporary world music. The songs deal with love, longing, justice and spiritual devotion. Part of the theatre's season under the heading "gelebte Erinnerungskultur" (lived memory culture).
