Gaudeamus – Elsa van der Linden

Saxophonist, composer, and scenographer Elsa van der Linden explores the question: How does a place you cannot reach sound? Due to the cancellation of SPACE21, an experimental music festival in Kurdistan where she was invited to perform, she began collecting sound material remotely. The resulting audio score—a sounding score as an entry point to a place that exists only in imagination—will be performed live in The Pit at TivoliVredenburg. The performance features collaboration with Hardi Kurda, composer, performer, and organizer of SPACE21. The event highlights listening as a starting point, with acoustics, materials, and unexpected moments considered musical elements. The performance guides the listener's ears to the musicality of the here and now.
