About this event
Layāli and Amanés – Journey into the Maqam, Echoes of the Mediterranean explores the deep musical connections between Arab-Andalusian traditions and Greek Rebetiko. The project brings together Ensemble Andalusí del Mediterráneo (Granada, Spain) and Aman Rebetiko (Kavala, Greece) for a musical dialogue of centuries-old melodies, modal structures and improvisation, expressing themes of love, exile and longing. Performers: Chrysa Papadopoulou and Hamid Ajbar (singing); Aziz Samsaoui and Alkis Zopoglou (kanun); Fathi Ben Yakoub (violin); Christos Sagonas (oud); Daniel Barbas (guitar); and Khalid Ahaboune (percussion). Tickets cost CHF 40–50.
