About this event

In the Iranian village of Avanj, a woman of about a hundred, known to everyone as the Chief, spends her days gathering and stacking firewood outside her house, long after the village was connected to the gas network. Neighbours mock the towering piles, but she insists on living independently and refuses to lean on her children. When a fire in a nearby house has villagers demanding the wood be cleared, her quiet routine turns into a conflict. Directed by Sadegh Kazemi. Iran.
